Why You Should Be Using Rosemary in Your Manifestation Ritual
When I first started exploring smoke cleansing as part of my spiritual practice, like so many others, I gravitated towards staples like white sage and Palo Santo. They’re the poster herbs for energetic cleansing—sacred, powerful, and deeply effective. But as I’ve deepened my connection with the natural world and developed Bloom & Believe, I’ve learned to pause and ask myself: Is this the right choice for me, my intentions, and the planet? It’s not so much a secret anymore that White Sage and Palo Santo isn’t always ethically sourced and these herbs/sacred wood are difficult, if not impossible, to grow, particularly here in the U.K for example. Demand is rising for these sacred tools and questions are being raised over the sustainability and the future of harvesting both White Sage and Palo Santo. These particular spiritual ingredients are also deeply intertwined with the traditions and cultures who grow and cultivate them, causing me to question what did these tools really mean to me?
This curiosity led me to explore general smoke cleansing practices (rather than ‘smudging’ which is actually a native American Indian practice using White Sage) and this is where I discovered that smoke cleansing was a widely used practice amongst our ancestors across the world, most notably for me personally is the Celtic practice of Saining which many of us in the U.K will have ancestral links to. I realised there are many other smoke cleansing ingredient alternatives closer to home - which are just as powerful! As someone who adores her kitchen garden and believes in the power of intention, it felt almost laughable to realise I had overlooked one incredible herb growing right under my nose: Rosemary and once I started incorporating it into my manifestation rituals, it became a game-changer—a key ingredient in Bloom & Believe’s Signature Ritual Box and, honestly, a personal favourite I now can’t imagine doing without.
Let’s dive into why this humble herb deserves a spot in your manifestation toolkit.
The Ancient Ritual of Smoke Cleansing
Smoke cleansing is a ritual that transcends time and culture, used to clear away negative energy and create space for something new. Whether it’s a ceremonial beginning, a deep energetic cleanse, or just a shift in the mood of your home, this practice is all about intention.
The first time I used rosemary for smoke cleansing, it was a revelation. There was something grounding yet invigorating about its aroma—like it was clearing not just the space around me but also the mental clutter I didn’t realise I was carrying. That’s the beauty of rosemary. It bridges the sacred wisdom of ancient traditions with the healing intelligence of the natural world in a way that feels both spiritual and scientific.
Why Rosemary?
At first glance, rosemary might seem like an unassuming choice. It’s the herb you grab for roasted potatoes or a Sunday stew. But dig a little deeper (pun intended), and you’ll uncover layers of spiritual, symbolic, and even neurological power that make it a perfect ally for manifestation.
Clarity & Protection: Historically, rosemary has been associated with memory, focus, and protection. Ancient healers used it to dispel fear, sharpen the mind, and connect to ancestral wisdom.
Energetic Reset: Rosemary’s grounding yet uplifting properties are ideal for creating a clean slate—whether you’re stepping into a new intention or releasing limiting beliefs.
Science-Backed Benefits: Rosemary’s scent stimulates the limbic system, the part of your brain responsible for emotions and memory. It can help us access and reprogram deep-rooted beliefs stored in our subconscious—exactly where manifestation begins.
A Ritual of Release
One of my favourite things about using rosemary is the symbolism of the smoke itself. As it rises and dissipates, I imagine my doubts, fears, and old stories being carried away with it. I let go of what no longer serves me, creating space for the new energy and opportunities I want to call in.
Even the act of lighting rosemary can feel like an anchor—a moment to pause, take a breath, and align with my intention. For me, it’s not just about the physical cleansing of the space but the energetic shift it creates within.
Anchoring into Your Desires
Manifestation isn’t just about what you want; it’s about who you’re becoming. In the Bloom & Believe ritual, we use a practice called future memory, where you imagine your desires as already achieved. The scent of rosemary has this incredible ability to deepen that connection, anchoring me into the energy of my future self while sharpening my focus on what truly matters.
I can’t tell you how many times I’ve felt a sense of clarity during these rituals, like the fog lifts and I can see my dreams unfolding. It’s as if rosemary gently whispers, You’ve got this. Trust yourself.
The Intelligence of Nature
At its core, using rosemary for manifestation is about aligning with the intelligence of nature. Our ancestors knew it well—plants like rosemary aren’t just tools; they’re guides, reminding us of the abundant potential within and around us.
Rosemary is resilient, healing, and abundant—qualities we all possess but sometimes forget. When I use rosemary in my rituals, I feel deeply connected to that wisdom, like I’m not just a creator of my reality but part of something much bigger.
Your Invitation
If you’ve been feeling stuck or disconnected in your manifestation journey, consider inviting rosemary into your practice. Whether it’s as simple as burning a sprig to reset your energy or diving into a full ritual, this herb has a way of bringing focus, clarity, and a sense of grounded inspiration.
At Bloom & Believe, we believe in blending the intelligence of nature, ancient wisdom, and modern neuroscience to empower you to step into your highest potential. Rosemary is just one of the many tools we use to remind you of the creative power already within you.
